There Will Be Blood is a story about a man who is willing to sacrifice all that he has, for that last drop of oil. As far as fall arc stories go, this movie is the best of its kind.
Daniel Day-Lewis is exceptional as a man guided by his obsession to drill oil, willing to give up his son in order to drill more oil. Lies and deception follow Daniel which then comes out beautifully in the end when its all revealed to the other characters, where the Daniel they thought they knew, was lying to them the whole time.
Don’t expect a happy ending, don’t expect to be wholly satisfied, as this is a story about the dangers of obsession, greed and the lust for oil.
Ruthless silver miner, turned oil prospector, Daniel Plainview moves to oil-rich California. Using his adopted son HW to project a trustworthy, family-man image, Plainview cons local landowners into selling him their valuable properties for a pittance. However, local preacher Eli Sunday suspects Plainviews motives and intentions, starting a slow-burning feud that threatens both their lives.
